Post 6 Lecture Baroque Theatre Modern Opera

After the gothic period of architecture ended. There was a new and most would say more technologically advanced new style. This was Baroque which came in around (1600). At this time, the Protestant religion was one of the Catholic Churches rivals. Protestant had simple architecture very neat and not extremely detailed. The Catholic was much different using the Baroque art, music and architecture to counter the simple Protestant architecture. They did this always to one up the other religions to show how much greater the Catholics were. The most infamous baroque architecture during these times were Bernini, who would design Churches for the Pope to speak and teach Christianity. This was probably the most important architectural church in the land. Very sacred. Berninis goal was to fit as many people as possible! Very open and big enough to fit everyone in the land. “The motherly arms of the church.”

Post 4 Lecture Native Americans

Throughout the years of time, global architecture has helped influence religious and cultural elements.  These roots can be traced back all the way to the Native Americans in 550 BC. Native American Tribes would build both permanent and temporary houses for their tribe. Many of these people would stay on the move and not settle for very long. (hunting, searching). So having fast and accessible houses was very crucial for many of these tribes. They would make these houses through birch bark, brush, and other natural materials. The Native Americans were very intelligent with their build-making such as with small homes as they would create cone-shaped houses to allow the smoke from inside the house to get out. The Native Americans of these creations are nothing short of geniuses. Many of the works got passed down through generations to allow progression through centuries. With that centuries later Greece would push its innovation and show much more advanced work. Such as their theater was a form of entertainment taken very seriously.  People would come from all across the Greek world to attend the popular theaters held in open-air amphitheaters. In their glory days, some amphitheaters could hold crowds of up to 15,000 people. The goal would be to have the whole town come and enjoy the entertainment and Christianity. This was a way to bring everyone together for God.

Post 5 Reading, GRQ, Discussion

The article goes over the relationship between the indigenous arts and American art history.

The brief essay highlights major exhibits and installations of Native art in American art museums.

Indigenous arts play a huge role in the art we have here in America.

Indigenous arts first came into play after the first world war as if was a way for Americans to celebrate

their independence. The first exhibits of these paintings took place at the Museum of Fine Arts in

Santa Fe (1919), the Arts Club in Chicago (1920), and The Society of Independent Artists in New York

City (1920, 1921, and 1922). This was a great way to get their art noticed.  Americans couldn't get

enough of this art and were fascinated by how different it was. With Native art joining the American

arts it at first was not appreciated by some people. Before that, it was usually white men. But you

cannot deny art! As a fellow artist, as the years go on the value and rarity increased so with the

background and historic value of their indigenous arts and the effect they had on American history

these works are priceless.

Below are my favorites from the rise of indigenous arts
